Biography

Latanya has been a Pregnancy Coach with Her Health First for nearly three years and brings with her extensive experience in community building, parent engagement, and early childhood education. She is passionate about building community and strengthening families. Her past moms will tell you that she is patient, an attentive listener, personable, nurturing, and full of wisdom! Her devotion has allowed her to build genuine connections with her clients to recognize any warning signs and address them immediately. Before joining HHF, she worked with the Roberts Family Development Center, carrying out various roles in the ten years she was there. Latanya is a proud mother of 4 beautiful children- all of which are young adults now. Her two girls are college graduates, her oldest son will be graduating from college soon, and her youngest is on his way to attending in a few years. She currently sits on the Black Parallel School Board and advocates to ensure Black students in Sacramento receive quality education just like everyone else. Latanya sits on the Food Committee for United and Guided (UAG), which promotes relationship building among Black fathers and their children. Every Sunday, they meet up at Tahoe Park for a fun day filled with outdoor fun and food. Her accomplishments speak to the commitment she has for healing and nurturing the Black community. The thing she is most proud of is raising four strong, independent adults who can take care of themselves, despite the challenges she has faced. Latanya loves to read. She loves getting into a good book or just learning more about a new topic. Self-care for her means spending time in nature, coloring, and snuggles with her 2-year-old grandbaby. When it comes to food, she can eat collard greens and cornbread 24/7, and she has the magic touch when it comes to whipping up a hearty and delicious salad!!! Latanya has a degree in Early Childhood Education, extensive experience in supporting families, and is dedicated to ensuring that all the moms she works with feel empowered to be advocates for themselves and their families.
