History has repeatedly shown that women hold an unbeatable power. Black women fought tooth and nail for most of the equality we have now. I believe that there is nothing that we can’t do, especially together. So many women have used their voices to affect change and empower the globe. In honor of Women’s History Month, I’d like to share some quotes from Black feminists, advocates, truth-tellers, and women of power that will hopefully keep you encouraged and inspired to live proudly in your womanhood.

“You must never be fearful of what you are doing when its right.”

Rosa Parks

“Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They’re what make the instrument stretch, what make you go beyond the norm.”

Cicely Tyson

“Success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.”

Michelle Obama

“When Black women win victories, it is a boost for virtually every segment of society.”

Angela Davis

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”

Alice Walker

“I am a feminist. I’ve been female for a long time now. I’d be stupid not to be on my own side.”

Maya Angelou

“I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We’ve been taught that silence would save us, but it won’t.”

Audre Lorde

“Do not live someone else’s life and someone else’s idea of what womanhood is. Womanhood is you. Womanhood is everything that’s inside of you.”

Viola Davis

“Feminism is for everybody.”
